Interactive symbol Trainer
The Thai language has a lot of letters to learn. I will have to rehearse them a lot of times before they become familiar, so I have built a quick flash-card application to make all this easier.
There 44 different consonants are divided into three classes as indicated with red for high, black for mid and blue for low class consonants in the application below.
Instructions
If you have a Flash Mx plug-in installed, you can start the trainer by clicking the image below. It’s a download of 130K so it shouldn’t take too long to load.
(If you haven’t got Flash Mx, you can install it it in a matter of seconds.)
- Press the eye button to see what the thai letters reveal and to enable the sound sample.
- When you see the transcription press the green button if you positively remember the symbol. When you do that, it will be removed from the drill and you don’t have to waste time practicing it anymore this time.
- Press the red button if you don’t feel you are familiar with this symbol yet.
- Listen to the pronunciation by clicking the speaker symbol after you have pressed the eye-button.
- Scroll through the cards with the arrow symbols at the bottom.
The score is calculated as the percentage of positive recalls. Try it out and see if you can improve your performance over time.
