Some time ago, I read an interesting article about how Google might be attempting the transformation from an internet search portal to a Global provider of IT network services.
Rich Skrenta posted an article called [The Secret Source of Google's Power](http://blog.topix.net/archives/000016.html) about what he thought Google was up to. At that time, it did not really make sense for me, but the rumour seem to be strong and is certainly still alive.
Watch ths – today, I noticed this screenshot of the alleged secret Google Operating System floating around in the blogosphere:

It might very well be a hoax, but it is well done. And who knows? :-)
Looks like that would make a pretty terrible OS: it looks like nothing more than a cheesy Windows ripoff, with a little transparency and goofy tree mechanisms, which is already a crappy mac ripoff.
Google OS? if it’s anything at all like this looks, i’ll pass.
Oh, yeah, also: it’s pretty ugly. Google has more design sense than that.
Looks like a KDE re-paint, it’s got the window trim from KDE, and yes KDE can do transparencies too…
Any BSD or linux can bo the same thing with the KDE manager and they’re free too.
Somebody needs to check and see if they (googal) are using a BSD core to build their OS.
Bet they are using a BSD core, just like Apple did for OS-10.x
